HOLIDAY BAKEIT/TAKEIT

The heat of summer has finally arrived here in Northeast Ohio so it's rather ironic that we have our Christmas BakeIt/TakeIt calendar ready. Yes, we have started booking classes already. In case any of you haven't heard about this before, you come bake either 20 dozen or 40 dozen Christmas cookies (8 different kinds) in our shop. My staff and I prepare the dough, man the ovens and package all the cookies while the ladies rotate from station to station learning how to make 8 different kinds of cookies. We include lunch and all recipes. Quite frequently we have groups who book out the whole class. It's a lot of fun and you leave with your Christmas baking done. I know many of you are waiting for the information because the calls have started coming in. For the first time you can register online but do feel free to call in your registration too.

FALL PASTRY CLASS

I love the fall time here in Ohio. The cooler, crisper weather and all the ripe fruit just lends itself to baking. This class has long been a favorite of our customers. You can learn how to make to a pie and a pumkin roll and take both home with you that night. Click here to read more about it and register for class.

CHEF SARAH

One of the things I love most about my business is all the wonderful people I meet. One such person is Sarah Mentzer. Sarah is a chef and will be teaching some unique classes, such as appetizers for the holidays, in my shop over the next couple months. Please read her bio and check out the class offerings on the class form. I'm excited to be coordinating some things with her.
Click here read about and to register for Sarah's classes.

WEB SITE

Our web site is a continual work in progress. Check out our classes and events page to see pictures of our customers' kids decorating a cake for mom for Mother's Day. This was a hit and we'll definitely be doing this again next year. We, also, have pictures of our great group of Cake Decorating Level I students with their beginning cakes. It's always fun to view how much creativity can be seen after even a few short sessions. We will be offering these again in Jan/Feb after the holidays along with some new classes.
Another new feature is we are now on Facebook so check it out and let us know what you think.

DONATIONS

I truly believe in giving back to one's community and, with that in mind, we have some charitable events coming up in September you might be interested in.
The first is the Stow Library "Dessert Extravaganza" being held on Sept. 19 from 7:00-9:30 pm. We, along with many other restaurants and bakeries, are donating pastry to this event. For more information check out their web site at <www.smfpl.org/dessert>
The second event which happens to be on the same weekend will be Walsh Universities 50th Anniversary celebration and we have been invited to participate in their cake competition "Celebrating the past, present, and future of Walsh". Their event information can be found at <www.walsh.edu>
Pastry in the Shop
Around the middle of September we will once again have our apple dumplings ready for sale and in case you didn't know this we have pumpkin cranberry bread for sale. Our web site will have pictures of our fall selection of cut outs, trays, and baskets, too.
We're truly looking forward to seeing and hearing from each of you in the months ahead.
